CAMERA DEPT FUNDAMENTALS WORKSHOP
Welcome to the Camera Department Fundamentals Workshop, hosted by industry pros and crafted for the next generation of film crew professionals. This hands-on workshop is a refreshed take on our previous Camera Department Essentials course, now with an updated name and even more in-depth content.
What You’ll Learn:
Set Etiquette and Professionalism: We’ll cover the dos and don’ts of on-set behavior, what to wear, and how to conduct yourself professionally in the camera department.
Business Basics: Beyond just camera skills, we’ll give you insights into running your freelance camera business so you can gain employment.
Core Technical Skills: Dive into the fundamentals of camera operation and gear, and learn how camera and gripping departments work hand-in-hand on set.
Hands-On Workstations:
We’ve designed four interactive stations to give you real-world practice:
Camera Fundamentals – Get hands-on with the core gear and learn the nuts and bolts of professional film equipment.
Camera and Gripping – Explore how the camera and grip teams coordinate and support each other.
DIT & VTR – Learn the workflow between camera crew and the DIT/VTR departments.
Camera Truck Station – Get familiar with the camera truck setup and how to keep everything organized and efficient for your first days on a film set.
Panel Q&A:
We’ll wrap up the day with a panel discussion featuring experienced camera assistants. This is your chance to ask questions, get career advice, and gain insights from seasoned pros who’ve been exactly where you are.
